2020 was a year that bound us together with threads of isolation. Many of us experienced worlds within the confines of four walls, looking through our windows.
In September of 2020, BTS delivered a heartfelt speech at the UN General Assembly, where they recounted the familiar experience of having their world “shrunk to a room.” We were struck, in particular, by Jungkook’s words: “Namjoon said he couldn’t see the stars any more, but I saw my face reflected in the window. I saw all of our faces. Our songs became the stories we wanted to tell each other. . . . If there’s something I can do, if our voices can give strength to people, then that’s what we want and that’s what we’ll keep on doing.”
So we invited our readers to look out their own windows and tells us what they saw. These stories may not take the form of song, but they are equally personal. From Malaysia, India, Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, Japan, Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates . . . ARMY wanted to speak themselves; we hope you not only listen, but that you find one more voice that gives you a bit of strength.
