I like taking walks at night —
to be engulfed by the dark
as I look up at the cosmos,
a comforting sight.
Head in the clouds, I feel closer to you.
I muse over why —
Maybe we share the big infinities above
instead of the smaller ones
that aren’t so high.
Are you the twinkling stars?
The zooming comet?
The beaming planets?
The glimmering satellites?
No, you are the s p a c e inbetween and a l l o v e r,
the deep blue canvas that holds these lights
and embraces the world whole.
I wonder,
are the odds of us gazing at the same star lightyears from here
higher than us ever meeting,
when separated by mere miles?
If I could,
I would get rid of electricity
and let your shadow envelop me.
Creator Statement
Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the enormity of BTS just like how I get overwhelmed when I look at space and think about the universe. I wrote this poem to find some sense of comfort and my place within these enormities.
